LIMITED 10TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION SPLIT COLOUR 2LP VINYL

El-P and Killer Mike unite for their 1st furious instalment. Expect gut-punch beats blood-boiling basslines and rhymes that’ll rip your face off. Universally acclaimed on release in 2013 Run the Jewels‘ inception hasn’t lost any kick in its time on (or should that be off?) the planet. El’s post-apocalyptic production provides him and Mike a with still-smoking dystopian landscape to spit ultra-hooky fables of hate and hope over and whether they’re delivering a statement of intent that will knock your teeth out (‘Run The Jewels’) taking on Big Pharma (‘DDFH’) or just sneering through the end of days (‘Job Well Done’) they level everything in their path. Add a star turn from Outkast‘s Big Boi (on ‘Banana Clipper’) and a creepy/hilarious Prince Paul skit (‘Twin Hype Back’) and son you’re onto a winner.

FFO: Company Flow, Killer Mike, El-P, Def Jux

“Mixing the industrial grime of New York City with the vibrant bounce of the dirty South, they forge hip-hop’s future while adhering to the core tenets of its bedrock: gymnastic displays of skills, incendiary political rhetoric, merciless braggadocio, battle-honed assholery, R-rated punchlines and a back-and-forth that brings the interplay of the shell-toe Adidas era screaming into our contemporary nightmare. Tearing up the music industry rulebook, their self-titled 2013 debut was originally released through a series of website- crashing free album downloads. Featuring Outkast’s Big Boi on Banana Clipper and Prince Paul on Twin Hype Back, it’s a “rough and rabid ride”; a “swaggering victory lap for two artists at the peak of their creativity”; and been dubbed “one of the best hip-hop records of 2013″.”
